变极多速三相异步电动机是Y、 Y2系列电机的派生系列产品，为有极调速电动机。它是利用改变定子绕组的接法以改变电动机的极数。从而使电动机用一套或两套绕组来获得两种或两种以上的转速。

变极多速三相异步电动机用Y、Y2系列电机的安装及外形尺寸，绝缘等级、防护等级、冷却方法、结构及安装型式、使用条件、额定频率等，机座号与速比、功率的关系以及力能指标均与国际同类产品的水平相近，与JOO2系列老产品相比，全系列的效率、功率因数，起动性能都有所提高，噪声震动有较大的降低，平均体积逗笑15%左右，重量平均减轻12%。

变极多速三相异步电动机由于具有可随负载性质的要求而分级地变化转速，从而达到功率的合理匹配和简化变速系统的特点。电动机适用于各式万能，组合，专用切制机床以及矿山治金、纺织、印染，化工，农机等部门需要逐级调速的各种传动机构。

此外，还可为用户提供不同电压要求(如220V, 220/360V，660V.，380/660V ，415V，1140V等）。更高防护等级（IP5）等双轴伸、值形轴伸湿热带等其它特殊要求电动机。
